I am a great believer in fishing the emerger patterns for Mayflies. They are very successful at the start of May when the hatches of Mayfly are just appearing on the Loughs. I also find that fishing them early in the day as the duns are beginning to hatch is the key to success. Trout can lock in on this vulnerable stage of the Mayfly’s cycle and mop them up at their leisure. If conventional dries are being ignored, it is crucial to have this style of pattern.
