New Products for 2012

1 |

Last weekend the tackle and guns show took place at the NAC near Coventry. It is the showcase for the UK and Ireland for the latest tackle for the upcoming year.  Its also a great place to see old friends and new front the fishing and tackle trade.  Once again this year did not fail to surprise with some great new products in rods, reels, line, clothing's and gadgets. Hardy & Greys The Hardy Greys stand was as usual very impressive and this year there is a big shake up in rods and reels.  The new range of Sinitrix Salmon rods has been launched. Holding them in the hand they are very impressive and feel light yet powerful. There is an very high quality finish. I got to cast one, but its hard to give it a proper testing indoors. Should have a full workout with it in the next few weeks on our casting ponds.  Also launched were the Marksman 2 range of rods for both river and lake. These are beautifully finished and are at a very competitive price, with the 9ft # 5 coming in around €449.  I did cast this model as it would be my most used rod and it is exceptional.  Nice deep action yet a fast recovery making it an ideal all round river rod. Also launched were the new Ultralite reels in both disc drag and click.  Very nicely made and competitive prices.  Greys also had some new double handers in the XF2 range which are great value for money.  Also of interest is their new range of fluorocarbon tippett and new flyboxes. Vision Fly Fishing Vision had a much bigger presence at the show this year and had a fantastic new line up of waders including the new Kura wader. These waders are using a new sonic weld technology which means no stitches and almost invisible seams.  Very comfortable to wear and should last a long time. Also new are some new fly lines plus the Vision Deep reel is available in a salmon size and costs only €80! Wychwood Paul Richardson from Wychwood took me through some of the new products for 2012.  As usual he has come up with some very innovative ideas with a new waterproof fly box/patch to clip on your vest, incorporating at hook sharpener, a new waist pack. which using magnets is very easy to use and comes with its own rain cover. Tubeflies are always hard to store and he has come up with a very clever new waterproof box that does the job nicely.  Also good were some of the net bags which will help to keep the smell out of your car!  Also of interest are the new TrueSpin rods which have been upgraded and improved. Redington I have always liked redington gear as it offers good quality for your money. Some new jackets, rods and lots of other goodies on offer this year, so will have more about these when we get more samples.   Simms We have been appointed Simms Dealers in Ireland and will have a large range of products in stock in the next few weeks.  There are some fantastic new items for next year including a great deal on Freestone waders and Boots, The new Rivertec BOA boots, new layering and clothing.     [gallery link="file" columns="4"]
