Fish Pass

Finally a fish pass has been installed at the weir in Clonmel. And what a pass that has been put in!  I had heard quite a bit about it and watched some of the progress during construction, but it is a credit to all involved.  This should improve runs of salmon further up the river and ensure that fish are not trapped below the weir in Clonmel.  The run was in general very poor on the Suir this year but lets hope that next year it will improve. Below are some images of the new weir.  During low water conditions like this year it was very hard for fish to surmount the weir and were easy prey as they were trapped below.  This is a great job and a credit to IFI.
