The last few days on the Suir and Tributaries has seen a dramatic improvement in fishing. We have seen a big increase in the amount of fly life present, however the majority of fish were still caught on nymphs. Regular client Jimmy Gibson and his pal Harry had some fantastic fishing the last week or so. Cold winds were still present and this hamper the fishing a little, but the prospects for the next few weeks are excellent. Jimmy a native of Scotland but living in Westport Co Mayo had some very good fishing on the Suir early this week. Harry had an amazing fish over over 1.5lbs on the Suir using small goldhead nymphs. The majority of the fish are still in very shallow water as the water is still running a little fast. The river fished best during the bright sunshine at the warmest parts of the day around miday to 3 pm.[gallery link="file" columns="6"]
Henk Schwarz another Clonananv regular had some great fishing on the Tar and Anner during the week.
The majority of fish were caught on NZ style using a Klinkhammer and PTN flashback nymph.
